Give children tools and space to express themselves and be listened to without judgement
As part of the repiloting process of the pilot action ‘Self-expression through poetry’, a team from UNIBO and ACE visited a school in Cesena, Italy. A professional storyteller spoke to all the classes, sharing his own challenges in life and its expression through his writing. The children were fully engaged and moved to share their own lives through their writing, with sometimes breathtaking beauty. This confirms the pilot’s premise: that children must be given the tools and the space to express themselves and be listened to without judgement.
