Children share their favourite places in the city with the Little Prince
As part of the repiloting process of the pilot action ‘Exploring narratives of migration through storytelling: the adventures of the Little Prince’, students at St Frideswide Primary School (Oxford, UK) were introduced to the story of the Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. After reading about the Little Prince’s travels across different planets, including Earth, the students were invited to imagine him visiting Oxford. They produced drawings depicting the Little Prince in different locations including their school, hospital, local park and farm, among others. The students shared with the Little Prince their favourite places and offered advice on things he would need to know during his adventure in Oxford. They also spoke about how it might feel when arriving at a new place and thought of ways of helping someone feel welcome in a new place.
The NEW ABC UK team, who conducted the activity, created a short video featuring the students’ drawings, which was screened during the school’s end-of-project celebration event for families.
