NEW ABC Science Shop

This Science Shop has been created as part of the NEW ABC (Networking the Educational World: Across Boundaries for Community-building) H2020 research project financed under H2020 (with grant no. 101004640) – https://newabc.eu/.

We support researchers, citizens and societal organizations in generating new knowledge together. Our purpose is to help you better understand or find answers and solutions to concerns related to the inclusion of migrant and vulnerable children and youth in education.

What is it about?

The NEW ABC Science Shop carries out research projects focussing on the inclusion of migrant and vulnerable children and youth in formal, informal and non-formal education across the whole range of science and research fields represented by the project partners.

The field of the research to be undertaken depends on the expertise and areas of specialization of the members of the Science Shop and those undertaking the projects.

The co-construction of knowledge allows organizations and people to access research results and data that would otherwise not be available to them.

Who can participate?

The NEW ABC Science Shop works closely with civil society organizations (CSOs and NGOs), citizens, students, schools, academic researchers, local governments and administrators, national institutions and others.

How does it work?

The NEW ABC Science Shop offers free research and scientific support to non-profit organisations in the form of research conducted by researchers and students in close collaboration with the community:

Selected projects and research work are offered pro bono, i.e. with no cost for CSOs, NGOs, and private citizens. The number of requests that will be accepted depends on the time and effort that partner organizations can allocate to the activities of the Science Shop.

Civil society organizations and members can contact the NEW ABC Science Shop to express their interest in initiating co-participated research aimed at exploring specific issues or finding solutions to specific societal problems.

The NEW ABC Science Shop will then translate these requests into well-defined research questions. The research project will be supervised by experienced researchers according to the competences and expertise required.

The consortium includes partners from nine different countries, who share a marked and continued interest in the education, psychological development, and social inclusion of young people with an immigrant background. The NEW ABC Science Shop draws upon the expertise of the NEW ABC project partners which include both academic and non-academic partners specialized in: art, education, gender studies, interpreting and translation studies, journalism, law, psychology (cultural-developmental and social psychology), linguistics, migration, multilingual education, second language acquisition, sociolinguistics (sociolinguistics of language and immigration), sociology.
